End-Of-Life Doula
What is an End-Of-Life Doula?
An End-of-Life Doula, also known as a death doula or death midwife, is a trained professional who provides non-medical, holistic support to individuals and their families during the final phase of life. Our End-of-Life Doulas provide a calming presence, offering compassionate companionship to those approaching the end-of-life. They are there to listen, comfort, and share in the journey.
What Does a Doula Do?
An End-of-Life Doula works with dying people and their families to create a peaceful end-of-life experience. Doulas coach, hold space, and mediate the transition to death for people and their communities.
End-Of-Life Doula Training
We are committed to expanding End-of-Life Doula services, through our certification program. The details of which may be found below.
“Let me share with those who take the EOL doula class – even with all of my experience as a hospice spiritual advisor/chaplain, I gained an inordinate amount of knowledge and direction. By the 3rd class I had already incorporated much of this into my practice. On a personal note, it increased my knowledge of myself and how there have been times when I interjected my own emotions and reactions rather than really listening. What an important lesson to learn! A life-changing experience, certainly.”
– Linda Clark
What Does the Training Include?
This 40-hour training provides prospective Doulas with information about death and dying, grieving, hospice and palliative care, as well as specific hands-on experience creating vigils, legacy projects, and tools to provide compassionate care to those at end-of-life.
